Glow Without the Shine?
AB Skin: Exceptional Face Treatment for Women Over 40 Seeking Radiant, Youthful Skin - New Skincare Product Review
An Honest Review for Skin Over 40 (and Anyone Tired of Heavy Formulas)

Let’s be honest — skin changes after 40. And I'm no exception. My skin also really goes downhill over the Winter months, due to central heating, in and out of the cold, hot baths that all cruelly rob your skin of its precious lustre and vital moisture. And with the onset of perimenopause (like we haven't got enough to deal with) our skin's will, unfortunately go through some unwanted changes. For some its dry and spotty, some its spotty, some its just oily and some its just downright everything. Mine is starting to droop and jowels appearing. This is when our skin sends us trawling the net for some solutions and one being an effective lightweight moisturiser that provides everything the skin needs to look 'normal' again. The search for a product that hydrates without that overly slick finish? It's real.
So when Exceptional Face Treatment by abSKIN a Skincare product designed purely for women over 40 promised a “glow without the shine,” I was intrigued — but cautious. Because if you've tried as many moisturisers and serums as I have, you know the difference between radiant and... just plain shiny.

My First Impressions of Exceptional Face Treatment by abSKIN
Well I'm an absolute sucker for a pretty box and the Exceptional Face Treament by abSKIN, was no exception. A beautifully packaged product in a beautiful gift box with a deep green ribbon. I felt like it was a special gift sent especially to me.

Exceptional Face Treatment by abSKIN- Tones & Stimulates skin - fights wrinkles and aging.
The Texture of Exceptional Face Treatment by abSKIN
Lightweight, silky, and instantly absorbed. Yellowy in colour but with absolutely no sticky residue, no heaviness — just a clean, fresh feel. My skin drank it up.
The Glow:
This was the part that surprised me. It gives you that soft, natural luminosity — like you’ve had a great night's sleep and a walk in fresh air.
Hydration Level:
Perfectly balanced. My cheeks felt nourished, and my T-zone stayed calm. It wore beautifully under makeup too — no midday touch-ups required.
Exceptional Face Treatment by abSKIN - The Ingredients:
Loaded with some exceptional and exotic natural plant actives like hyaluronic acid from Soya Beans, Squalene from Sugar cane, Bakuchiol Oil from the Indian Babchi Plant, Vegetable glycerin from Coconut oil and the star of the show - Paracress Oil from the Spilanthes Acmelia Flower, all blended to give you the very best in natural effective skincare solution. It's fragrance-free (as in no artificial pretty smells) but a very reassuring fresh, natural plant smell, which is ideal for sensitive, maturing skin. Read to the bottom if you would like to read the indepth benefits of each of the 9 Exceptional Face Treatments active ingredients. They're pretty impressive.

How I used the Exceptional Face Treatment by abSKIN.
As directed, and excitedly, I used 3-4 generous pumps, morning and night after cleansing or toning and applied in an upward motion (to defy gravity) (I freshen my skin with a toner on a morning to tighten up pores). It sinks into the skin beautifully, leaving a refreshed, balanced and hydrated skin just perfectly prepped to apply your makeup. At 30ml - this should last around a month. I like to add 2 drops of self tanning drops to my moisturiser and have yet to mix it with the Exceptional Face Treatment.

Pro's and Cons
Pro's
Just 3-4 pumps - will cover the entire face.
Packed full of Natural active ingredients, peptides and hylauronic acid
Vegan -this appealed to me as a pescatarian
Helps to soften Crows feet
Encourage the reduction of wrinkles/ frown lines
Soften the appearance of facial contours like jowels (yes please)
Gives the skin appearance of health and youth
Skin feels refreshed and nourished.
Designed for skins over 40+
Fresh, Natural fragrance.
Creates a hydrated base for makeup
All-in-one serum and moisturiser
Price is reasonable as some moisturisers of this caliber are 6 times the price.
Cons
It's deep natural yellow colouring may transfer onto light bedding - however I didn't find this, but be careful around your expensive bedding - use a towel on your pillow or get yourself one of those satin pillow cases.
Does not contain an SPF (its advised to wait 20 minutes after application before applying SPF)
Does not have an eye product in the range (the product can be applied around the eye contours but not directly to the lid)
Have to wait 20 minutes before applying makeup or sunscreen (just a small price to pay I think)

The Verdict:
For me, it really helped to super moisturise my winter parched skin and I found I didn't have to overload the skin with more moisturisers (I tend to lather coconut oil over my night cream). I like to apply it with a bit of a massage (not too much as it absorbs so well you don't want to drag the skin) in a direct upward motion and pressing gently around my eye contour area. If I still owned a salon I would definitely retail this product in the salon, which I feel would suit those who struggle with those with a combination skin and plug the gap for the changes in the skin that age and menopause bring. I noticed my lines around my eyes much less obvious and the pores more refind. I didnt notice much difference in the beginning but it soon becones a cream you just don't want to stop using. Really happy with it.
We are into summer now and the morning and night routine is :
Morning, freshen up with a toner and then apply EFT, eye cream - wait 20 mins apply makeup.
Evening, facial wash, toner and EFT and eye cream with a gentle massage.
I exfoliate once a week and put a face mask on when I remember.
My next mission is to test it out on my mum and will report back.
If your skin’s looking for hydration and glow without the heaviness, sbSKIN Exceptional Face Treatment is definitely worth trying. Especially great for those of us over 40 who want results — not residue. I give it 5/5

Hyaluronic acid from Soya Beans
Derived from soya beans is a plant-based alternative to animal-sourced hyaluronic acid, making it ideal for vegan skincare products. This naturally fermented form is bio-identical to the hyaluronic acid found in our skin, meaning it integrates easily and effectively. Known for its exceptional ability to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, it deeply hydrates the skin, plumps fine lines, and supports a healthy moisture barrier. Regular use helps improve skin elasticity, smoothness, and overall radiance, making it a key ingredient in maintaining youthful, well-hydrated skin
Vegetable Glycerine from Coconut Oil
Vegetable glycerine derived from coconut oil is a natural, plant-based humectant that draws moisture into the skin, helping to keep it soft, smooth, and hydrated. It forms a protective barrier on the skin’s surface, reducing moisture loss and supporting the skin’s natural healing processes. Because it’s gentle and non-comedogenic, it’s suitable for all skin types, including sensitive or acne-prone skin. This coconut-derived glycerine is especially valued for its purity and skin-conditioning properties, making it a key ingredient in nourishing, hydrating skincare formulas.
Squalane from Sugar Cane (not Sqalene - with an 'e'
Squalane derived from sugar cane is a lightweight, plant-based moisturizer that mimics the skin’s natural oils, making it highly compatible with all skin types—even oily or sensitive. This stable, hydrogenated version of squalene (with an "e") is non-comedogenic and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue. It helps to lock in moisture, strengthen the skin’s barrier, and improve elasticity, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth, and supple, reducing the appearence of fine lines and wrinkles.
Paracress Oil
Paracress oil, derived from the South American Acmella oleracea plant or Acmella Flower, is a natural active known for its skin-smoothing and firming effects. Often called "nature’s Botox," it works by relaxing facial tension and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles—especially around areas prone to expression lines like the eyes and mouth. Rich in spilanthol, its key bioactive compound, Paracress oil also helps to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness over time. Gentle yet effective, it offers a natural alternative to more invasive treatments, making it a standout ingredient in age-defying and firming skincare products and is ideal for delicate, mature skins.
Bakuchoi Oil
Bakuchiol oil is a plant-based alternative to retinol, derived from the seeds of the Indian Psoralea corylifolia plant. Known for its gentle yet powerful anti-aging properties, it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation without the irritation often associated with retinol. Bakuchiol works by stimulating collagen production, improving skin elasticity, and promoting an even skin tone, all while being suitable for sensitive skin. Its antioxidant-rich properties also help protect the skin from environmental damage, making it an ideal ingredient for those seeking a natural, non-irritating solution to maintain youthful, radiant skin. A study in the British Journal of Dermatology said, in 12 weeks users will witness major improvement in their skin.
4 Intelligent Peptides
Intelligent peptides and amino acids are powerful building blocks in skincare, working together to boost the skin’s natural functions and promote a healthier, more youthful appearance. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as messengers, signaling skin cells to perform specific tasks such as increasing collagen production, improving skin elasticity, and enhancing hydration. These "intelligent" peptides are specially designed to target various skin concerns, from fine lines to uneven skin tone. Amino acids, the building blocks of proteins like collagen and elastin, also help to repair and maintain the skin’s structure. Together, they work synergistically to support the skin’s barrier, improve texture, and deliver a smoother, firmer complexion. Ideal for anti-aging and skin rejuvenation, peptides and amino acids help your skin behave in a more youthful and resilient way.
