Brides-to-be, by now you must be well-acquainted with us beauty experts constantly emphasising skin and skincare. But why?
Well simply because Bridal Makeup looks AND works better on a healthy, balanced and well cared for skin, no matter what type of skin you have.
And with that in mind, planning for your big day involves more than just choosing the perfect dress and searching for that perfect venue. Achieving that glowing, radiant skin for your wedding day is a crucial part of feeling confident and beautiful.
And so, to help you Brides To Be prepare, I thought I would come up with an article with 8 expert tips to get your skin wedding day ready and to help you get that famous bridal glow.

Getting Started : Getting your skin in tip top condition and Wedding Day ready should begin as early as possible. I think six months ahead of the Big day is an ideal and achievable time scale to begin a routine and plan any salon or professional treatments. This will give your skin plenty of time to adjust and accept new products and show real improvements.

Staying Hydrated : I can't advocate the 'Drinking plenty water' rule enough. It may be boring (personally I love water) but I feel that water is the easiest and cheapest way to hydrate and plump skin. Have you noticed when you start drinking it (in place of wine I'm afraid) that your skin feels smoother and the dark circles under your eyes fade? It also may be TMI - but it also helps you flush toxins from the body and to go to the toilet easier. Aim for at least 8 glasses a day (sipping water gives the best effect) to keep your skin looking and feeling its best. It works, I promise.

Feed that skin. : We all know that eating a better diet with more fruits and vegetables is way better for us. But in times of stress or being short on time will have us reaching for the Just Eat app or nipping to the golden arches Drive thru for a quick meal. But that, I'm afraid, is not going to give you that healthy looking skin you want for your big day. (save it for the Wedding morning brekkie if you are planning to leave from home on your Wedding Day) Boring though it may sound, a healthy diet can do wonders for your skin. Make eating healthy part of your 6 month prep plan by loading up on fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids to promote a clear complexion.

Keeping it consistent: Sticking to a skincare routine is pretty important to achieving that perfect Wedding day skin. Find out what skin type you have and choose products formulated for that skin. For example, its no good using an all skin types moisturiser if your skin is oily. Look for one that is oil free. It will still moisturise just fine but without overloading the skin. And when you find your ideal products, try and stick to a routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising. And always, always, remove your makeup at the end of the day.

Skin Protection : Its 2025, and protecting the skin has been a big thing for some years now. And I'm pleased to see the younger generation have embraced this concept and love a spray tan and are big into anti ageing products, (unlike my generation who were tanning crazy, no protection and olive oil) But now we know that protecting our precious skin from the sun's harmful rays is crucial for preventing premature aging and dark spots.. Thankfully, many moisturisers now include a sunscreen to do just that. But if not, theres a great range of lightweight spf (sun protection factor) products around to give your skin a protection barrier.

Facials and Treatments : As a bride to Be, its now time to start really pampering yourself with some salon treatments. If you're unsure about your skin type, a good salon will be able to tell you your skin type and choose (if you want) a skincare range to suit your skin type. And if you are getting stressed, a facial is the ultimate de-stressing medicine (they really get their knuckles into your shoulders - I should know, I did facials for years) So, treat yourself to some regular monthly facials and skin treatments to target specific skin concerns. There are lots of treatments on offer, such as microdermabrasion (for smoothing the skin and dealing with any superficial lines and scarring) microcurrent to lift and tighten and Electrical facials that really target and treat specific skin problems.

Managing Stress : Wedding planning can be stressful, especially the week leading up the Big Day.I can't begin to tell you how many times Brides to be have had that dreaded breakout on their Wedding Day. (its perfectly fine, we Super Makeup Artists are here to the rescue) So I would advise to practice relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, or deep breathing to keep stress in check. Sleep - The ultimate Beauty Treatment : The body heals when it sleeps, and getting enough sleep will help skin-cells repair themselves and help to eliminate the shadowy darkness under the eyes.. But its no good if the Wedding is keeping you awake at night. Try asking your Spotify for sleep tunes. Try a lavender pillow spray. And an eye mask should help you drop off. And please, switch your phone off!!!
With some of the 8 tips to get your skin Wedding Day ready we've covered so far to help you relax and de-stress, I suggest you try to aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to allow your skin, body and mind time to repair and rejuvenate. And, getting a good nights sleep the night before the Big Day is paramount for that well rested complexion. I have stories of Brides getting a little over excited the night before and going to bed at 5 am and me arriving at 10 am for makeup. Although I did my utmost best with makeup and covering dark circles and adding the glow, you could see just how sleep deprived she was.
