What Is Tubing Mascara?

Updated: 5 days ago

If you’re planning your wedding makeup, you want lashes that look flawless from your vows to the last dance. One of the biggest questions I get from brides is whether to choose waterproof mascara or tubing mascara. So what is tubing mascara? As a bridal makeup artist with over 25 years of experience, I’ve seen how tubing mascara can be a game-changer for long-lasting, smudge-proof, tear-proof lashes — perfect for your big day.

What is Tubing Mascara?

Blinc Tubing Mascara: Why I Loved It Years Before Everyone Else Did.

What is tubing mascara?

Years ago, I discovered two beauty products I simply had to have in my bridal makeup kit: Blinc’s heated lash curler and their revolutionary Lash Tubing Mascara. I loved the mascara so much, I kept it just for myself — instead of adding it to my bridal makeup kit. Little did I know, this product would quietly revolutionize the mascara world years before the rest of the industry caught on.

My First Encounter With Blinc The First Ever Tubing Mascara.

Back in the early 2010s, Blinc launched something truly unique:

  • The first heated lash curler, perfect for creating a long-lasting curl without damaging delicate lashes

  • The tubing mascara, which coated lashes in tiny “tubes” that resist smudging and flaking

At the time, the mascara cost around £15, and I was hooked. It separated and lengthened, easy to apply, and on hot days when your skin oils up there was no migrating of the mascara onto my skin. But for some unknown reason — maybe the cost, maybe the convenience of picking up a mascara at the supermarket near my home — I didn’t repurchase it.

Over the years, it faded from my daily routine… until recently. I was soon reminded of why I loved it in the first place.

The Tubing Mascara Trend Takes Off

Suddenly, tubing mascaras areeverywhere, trending on social media as if they were something completely new. But here’s the thing: they’ve been around for years. I had discovered their magic a decade ago.

As a professional makeup artist specialising in Wedding Makeup, it’s exciting to see the beauty industry finally catching up. These mascaras are perfect for bridal makeup, photoshoots, and anyone who wants long-lasting, smudge-proof lashes.

Why I Still Recommend Tubing Mascara Today

Tubing mascara works differently from regular formulas:

  • It coats each lash in a flexible tube, giving length and definition

  • It’s smudge-proof and waterproof, perfect for weddings or long days

  • It removes easily with warm water, reducing lash damage

For brides, this is a game-changer. Your makeup stays flawless through emotional vows, celebrations, and photos.

Who Should Choose Tubing Mascara?

  • Sensitive eyes

  • Mature skin

  • Oily lids

  • Hooded Eyes

  • Emotional brides

Pro Tips for Using Tubing Mascara

  • Apply from base to tip, wiggling slightly to coat each lash

  • Layer carefully — two thin coats usually work best

  • Remove with warm water and gentle pressure, no harsh rubbing

How do you remove Tubing Mascara?

Removing tubing mascara is simple. Either wet your eyes (in the bath or shower) or warm water on a cotton pad - give it a few seconds and then with your fingers gently ease the tubes away. You will notice that it comes off like a dream with no smudging onto the skin or stinging in the eyes. I've also found micellar water works just as good too. Because tubing mascara is oil resistant - your usual oily eye makeup remover won't touch it.

Not suitable for swimming - although its resistant - when you rub the water out of your eyes - it will release the tubes.

Final Thoughts

Tubing mascara isn’t new, but it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves. Years ago, I discovered its magic and kept it just for myself. Now, I recommend it to all my brides and clients who want long-lasting, beautiful lashes without the stress of smudges or flakes. Its as if it was made with brides in mind. So with that - this is thee wedding day makeup must have.

If you haven’t tried a tubing mascara yet, now is the perfect time. Your lashes (and your bridal photos) will thank you..
