Is the Hard Work of Content Creation for Weddings, Worth the Extra Effort on Social Media?

Social media - The time Vampire

I’m finally here. I’m actually really doing it. I’m actually writing a blog.

It’s been such a long time and over the years I have been promising myself to write things. Anything. I had all these plans of writing lovely wedding blogs, of my lovely brides, their blummin delightful stories, colours, styles, guest blogs, tips and tricks etc but alas I did not. I guess I have all the ideas, but never seem to implement them. Life, just seems to get in the way.

And this brings me to the subject of Social Media. The changing face of business marketing as we know it. But, I remember when marketing wasn’t a 24/7 job when you didn’t have to keep creating content. When you didn’t have to remember to post pictures all the time and juggle different platforms. If you follow me on Insta and Facebook, you may notice I am not a regular poster. I do it when I remember to. Or mostly, when I look through my pics on my phone and think ‘oh, maybe I should post this pic’.

So you won’t be surprised to hear I won’t be joining TikTok or Snapchat. Sorry, but I may be hilarious ( I’m joking), but I don’t want to be a slave to create funny videos in the vein attempt to try and keep people watching.

But you know what? In recent years, I've proudly managed to dial back my social media consumption a bit. Sure, I might miss out on the latest gossip or what everyone's having for breakfast, but hey, I'd rather live in the real world than get lost in the endless scroll.

And let's not forget about the good old days of marketing, when all you had to worry about was placing an ad in the Yellow Pages and calling it a day! Ah, the simplicity! But hey, who needs Yellow Pages when you've got Instagram influencers, right?

But you know what's never gone out of style? Word of mouth! Yep, there's still something magical about people actually talking about you with their mouths, to other human beings, in real life. Crazy concept, right?

A bride recently told me, I was recommended by her hairdresser whose client had been a bridesmaid and had mentioned me. Not via a social media platform where someone asks for a wedding makeup artist recommendation and about 30 people recommend 30 different makeup artists. Seriously, who has time for that? You may not have to leave your sofa, but literally, you won’t be able to leave your sofa. It’s exhausting.

2023 & 2024 weddings

This week I’ve had quite an influx of enquiries for 2024/2025 which tells me, weddings are still going strong and that’s really quite wonderful and positive after the rough few years we’ve endured and seem to be still enduring.

So I am looking forward to creating beautiful makeup for you all. And in the meantime, have a look at Pinterest for some makeup inspo for me to work with when we finally meet.

Love to you all,

Paula x
